Two Mississippi sisters were shocked to find themselves left off a surprisingly long list of pardons by the outgoing governor and are hoping for better luck with the state’s new chief, The Associated Press reports.
Jamie and Gladys Scott made national news last year when Gov. Haley Barbour paroled them from prison on the condition that Gladys donate a kidney to Jamie, whose dialysis was costing the state a whopping $200,000 a year. (this is why the Guv paroled them!)
The sisters, who now live in Florida, had spent 16 years of a life sentence in jail on charges of armed robbery that they say they didn’t commit. The two women are still on parole and must report to a parole officer once a month. With a felony on their record, they say they are having trouble getting jobs.
Exactly what does it take for these sisters to get a break????
